Sanchez, Ozil Contract Talks Suspended – Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that contract talks with star duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been put on hold until the summer.

The pair have less than 15 months left on their current deals at the Emirates and have been linked away from the club, with Arsenal yet to reach an agreement over extending their deals.

While Sanchez has remained quiet over his long-term future, Ozil hinted in January that his future at Arsenal was dependent on whether Wenger remained at the club.

Reports have it that representatives of talismanic duo are holding out for a fee in the region £250,000-a-week, with Wenger admitting that discussions were put on hold because Arsenal have been unable to reach an agreement with the duo.

“At the moment we do not have an agreement,” Wenger told beIN Sports.

“We’ve decided to focus on the end of the season and talk about it during the summer

“It’s the same situation with Ozil because, when once you don’t find an agreement and it lasts, it’s not good for them, so its better you get it out and sit down during the summer.”

Wenger’s own future is also uncertain as his contract expires after the current campaign, but the Frenchman said he had “no news” about his plans.

Speaking after Arsenal’s defeat to West Brom on Saturday, Wenger said: “No matter how long I stay I will be committed and completely focused. How long I stay doesn’t really matter because as long as I’m there I’m completely focused on achieving the best with the club.

“At the moment we are going through a difficult period on the results, so I think it’s much more important to focus on getting it right again.”
