Super Eagles AFCON Victory Against Cameroon Excites Nigerians

Reactions have continued to trail the Super Eagles’ impressive 2-0 win over Cameroon in the second round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ademola Lookman’s brace was enough to lead Nigeria into the quarter finals stage of the competition in Ivory Coast.

The Atalanta forward was named the man of the match following his match-winning performance in the encounter, and he has attributed the victory to the collective efforts of the players.

Lookman said, “We are so happy to qualify for the quarter-finals. We have an objective before the start of the competition.

“We have worked together as a team. Every player is ready to make a sacrifice for the team to succeed.

“The more we play together, the more fluid we become. I’m standing here now, but this award reflects the whole team’s performance.”

Similarly, Nigerians have also taken to the social media to shower praises on the Super Eagles for making them proud.

Omojuwa waxed lyrical about the Super Eagles’ performance and record at the Nations Cup on X, stating that “Congratulations Super Eagles!!! We always make AFCON final stages. Always.If as a coach, you don’t get the super eagles to the final stages, retire. It’s one of the most constant things in world football.Nigeria always makes it to the latter stages of AFCON.”

Sports OAP, Temisan Okomi, hailed the team’s defensive performance in the encounter. “This is, arguably, the best defensive display I’ve seen from the Super Eagles in a long time,” he added.

Linlin Baba thanked the team for putting smiles on the faces of Nigerians with the victory. “Congratulations to the Super Eagles for this well-deserved victory. Thank you for planting smiles on our faces. We go in the quarter finals to make a history again.”

Oke Umurhohwo praised the team’s commitment in the game.

He wrote, “This is the most committed I have seen the Super Eagles in a long time. Going for all 50-50 balls, running the last line and giving the Cameroon players a run for their money. I love it.”

The Super Eagles will be back in Nations Cup action on Friday when they take on Angola for a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
