Tension As Hoodlums Lay Siege To Ondo Assembly

There is palpable tension at the Ondo State House of Assembly complex along Igbatoro Road in Akure following the invasion of the area by some hoodlums.

The hoodlums were said to have arrived in the place in droves and the buses which brought them were parked along the road.

However, policemen deployed in the place were said to have prevented them from gaining entry into the Assembly.

They were said to have barricaded the entrance of the complex and scrutinised anybody that had genuine business before they were allowed into the Assembly complex

Although the mission of the hoodlums at the Assembly could not be immediately ascertained, a source close to the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, told our correspondent that the hoodlums were there to attack some lawmakers loyal to the deputy governor

He however said the lawmakers were not at the Assembly .

Another source said the presence of the hoodlums was not unconnected with the crisis in the Assembly.

The court had last week reinstated the Deputy Speaker, Ogundeji Iroju and three other lawmakers who were suspended when the House wanted to impeach the deputy speaker.
