The World Needs A Vaccine Against COVID-19 To Be Safe – Bill Gates

The founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates has said that for the world to return to normal again and be safe, it needed an effective vaccine must be developed and shared to almost everyone on earth.

“My answer is always the same: when we have an almost perfect drug to treat COVID-19, or when almost every person on the planet has been vaccinated against coronavirus,” Gates stated in a new report on Thursday titled ” What You Need To Know About Covid-19 Vaccine”.

Gates, who is a philanthropist and major financier of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other research institutes, noted that the world needed a miracle treatment that was at least 95 percent effective to stop the outbreak.

“Realistically, if we’re going to return to normal, we need to develop a safe, effective vaccine.

“Which leaves us with a vaccine; humankind has never had a more urgent task than creating broad immunity for coronavirus,” he added.

He said that the world needed to cooperate so that when the vaccine is out, it would be mass produced and quickly distributed across continents.

” It’s going to require a global cooperative effort like the world has never seen,but I know it’ll get done.There’s simply no alternative,” he stated.

Recall that researchers are currently embarking on clinical trials to come up with the right vaccine.

But Gates said that the development of the right vaccine might take as little as 9 months or as long as two years.

“Safety and efficacy are the two most important goals for every vaccine,” he said.

He also debunked various claims that some drugs cure covid-19 patients, adding that a discovery of the right vaccine was key in curbing covid-19 globally.

“Most of the drug candidates right now are nowhere near that powerful. They could save a lot of lives, but they aren’t enough to get us back to normal,” he noted.
