Those After Me Want To Stop Buhari’s Reforms At Federal Character Commission —Chairman

The Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hajia Muheeba Dankaka has refuted the claims by a group that her masters degree certificate is not genuine.

Dankaka, in a statement signed by her Special Assistant, General Service, Abdullahi Adamu Idris, said that the campaign was arranged by mischief makers to distract her from pursuing the reform mandate handed to her by President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari had appointed Dankaka as the Executive Chairman of the Commission in March 2020.

A group under the aegis of Lygel Youths Leadership Initiative has alleged that her present name is not consistent with all her other documents.

The group berated the Senate for clearing her as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) alleging that she had presented “questionable certificates.”

The group, led by its Director of Legal and Compliance, Olalekan Idowu Oladipo, had at a press conference said, “it is grave criminal offence under our law for someone to give a false information to anybody in authority as the FCC Chairman has done.

“The questionable documents she submitted to both the Presidency, the DSS and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria leading to her appointment and subsequent ratification by the Senate as the Chairman of FCC is questionable of gargantuan proportion.

“We hereby demand the immediate resignation of THE Chairman of the FCC from her office as the Chairman of the FCC based on this obvious inconsistences and irreconcilable credentials.

“In the event she fails, neglects and or refuses to heed this request within 7 days we shall take necessary action to ensure justice is not only done but be seen to be done.”

However, in a statement on Saturday, Dankaka said her certificates carry her maiden name, hence the difference in her current name and the name on the certificate.

“To set the record straight, it is not unexpected that when a woman gets married, she takes her husband’s name and the case of Dr Muheeba Dankaka is not different.

“The general public should note that as against the allegation by LYGEL, Dr Muheeba Dankaka obtained her Masters degree in 1989 before she got married which necessitated the change of name,” she said.

It stated further: “To begin with, we are not unmindful of the plot by some forces championing a well-coordinated and richly funded campaign against the Executive Chairman.

” We are also aware that the Youth and Leadership Initiative Group is fronting for detractors of the Executive Chairman who are bent on truncating the reform mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari at the FCC, one of the most important agencies of government which Dr Dankaka is vigorously pursuing.”

The statement said if the writer of the story cared about investigative journalism, it would have deemed it” “necessary to find out either by physical request or relying on the FOI Act on what necessitated the change of name.”
