Tinubu Promises Sustainable Power In Schools, As BUK Graduates 11,284 Students

President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that arrangements are ongoing between the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Education to work out modalities to develop sustainable electricity in tertiary institutions.

The president was speaking during the 38th Convocation ceremony at the Bayero University, Kano where 11,284 students were awarded degrees from 18 faculties.

Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, added that the government is working towards revamping vocational centres to improve education and expand skills among youths in the country.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor, VC, Bayero University, Prof. Sagir Abbas, expressed happiness over the growth of the institution, disclosing that it has ranked the 5th best university in Nigeria in the 2024 Universities Assessment ranking by Times Higher Education.

“We will continue to ensure quality as well as improved facilities for enhanced teaching and research,” he said

He urged the graduating students to behave well and be worthy ambassadors of the institution, having been found worthy in both character and learning.

A total of 180 students graduated with First Class honours while the institution also conferred higher degrees and postgraduate diplomas on 5,432.

Also, the Deputy Senate President, Jibril Barau, and the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, were conferred with honorary doctorate degrees at the event.
