Two Suspected Tricycle Snatchers Arrested As Two Sister Declared Missing In Anambra

Police operatives in Anambra State, Tuesday, announced the arrest of 19-year-old Okafor Stanley of Ezeawulu village, Nibo, and, 21-year-old Benedith Sunday of Ifite village in Awkuzu, Anambra State, for allegedly attacking and snatching a tricycle at gunpoint.

They were arrested at Parkers, Zik’s Avenue, Awka, by police operatives attached to Central Police Station (CPS), Awka, in conjunction with a local vigilante group on 8/2/2021 at about 8pm, according to a police source. The source added that exhibits recovered in their possessions were two locally made pistols and the snatched tricycle.

The PPRO, Anambra State Command, CSP Haruna Mohammed, told newsmen that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime, adding that ‘investigations were ongoing after which they would be brought to justice’.

Meanwhile, two sisters, Precious Chukwuemeka, 17, and Mmesoma Chukwuemeka, 12, have been declared missing in Anambra State. A release by the police PRO, Mr Haruna Mohammed, stated that, “On 4/2/2021, at about 4pm, a case of missing persons was reported at CPS, Awka, by one Ukamaka Anunobi of 7, Emeka Chukwura Street, Amikwo, Awka, that two of her stepdaughters named Precious Chukwuemeka, 17, and Mmesoma Chukwuemeka, 12, of the same address, left the house to an unknown destination but did not return home. 

“Police circulated the signal through the control room while efforts are being intensified to find the missing children. They are dark in complexion. One is about five feet tall while the other is three and a half feet tall without a tribal mark.”

He urged members of the public with useful information about the children’s whereabouts to report at the nearest police station or call 07039194332.
