“Today First Gentleman Marlon Reis and I were married in a small ceremony with family and a few close friends. We are both excited for this new chapter in our lives together, and our hearts are full with the blessings of health, love, and family,” the governor stated via his Facebook page on Thursday.

Instead of the common term in democracy known as ‘first lady’ relating to the wife of a governor or president, Reis is now regarded as “First Gentleman” to the first openly gay male elected governor in the country.

Based on a statement from the governor’s office, “They are the proud parents of two children, ages 7 and 9” but there was no clue as to how the children came.

Polis, who was elected as a Democrat governor in 2019, is the son of Susan Polis Schutz.
