The Madagascar President had been in the spotlight because of his country’s traditional drug (Covid-19 Organics) which he said was effective for treating covid-19.

On Wednesday, Rajoelina said that his country had human resources whose ingenuity could help in times of crisis like that of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In the past two years the entire world has been through a period of profound upheaval which has weakened our economies – a virus that spread rapidly from continent to continent, many have fallen and it’s a painful reality.

“On some countries like Madagascar, have had to demonstrate audacity and ingenuity, we have waded on the intelligence of our scientists and also our traditional pharmacopoeia.

“Our home-grown solutions were our best weapons in this fight,” he said.

He also urged the international community to stop spreading negative stories about the African continent.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s hard to avoid the thoughts that when we speak about developing countries such as Madagascar, it’s always the negative, the grim side of the story that is foregrounded in the international arena.

“When we talk about the African continent, we always tend to cast a shadow over reality, it’s time for that perception to change, we must stop making uses of prejudices,” he added.

He further mocked scientific predictions which stated that many would die in Africa due to COVID-19 and the apparent lack of health infrastructure.

“Analysis published concerning the covid-19 situation predicted a public health disaster on the African continent but ultimately, Africa and so called vulnerable countries proved all of those forecasts wrong,” he said.
