US Election: Finally, Israeli PM Congratulates Biden

Nearly 24 hours after other world leaders congratulated former United States Vice President, Joe Biden, on his victory as President-Elect at the U.S. polls, Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has finally broken his silence and sent his congratulatory message.

This is coming after Saturday’s widespread reports that he was keeping mum over the outcome of the US election.

Netanyahu, a strong ally of President Donald Trump, tweeted on Sunday that he would strengthen the US-Israel relations under the Biden administration.

“Congratulations @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris. Joe, we’ve had a long & warm personal relationship for nearly 40 years, and I know you as a great friend of Israel. I look forward to working with both of you to further strengthen the special alliance between the U.S. and Israel,” he stated.

He also thanked President Donald Trump for the major feats he accomplished for the Jewish people, including the peace treaties with some Arab nations.

“Thank you @realDonaldTrump for the friendship you have shown the state of Israel and me personally, for recognizing Jerusalem and the Golan, for standing up to Iran, for the historic peace accords and for bringing the American-Israeli alliance to unprecedented heights,” he stated.

Recall that Biden was projected as the winner of the US election, after winning 290 Electoral college votes.

Since Saturday, tributes have been pouring in for the former vice president.

But Trump had vowed to challenge the electoral process at the Supreme Court.

Trump lawyer, Jenna Ellis, told Fox News on Sunday, that the “Winner of Trump-Biden race will be determined by courts — we don’t know yet who won.

“Despite projections by many news organizations Saturday that former Vice President Joe Biden has won the presidential election and defeated President Trump, the media don’t have the power to decide the outcome of American elections. Legal challenges by the Trump reelection campaign, where I serve as a legal adviser, are still before the courts and we await judicial rulings on our challenges,” she added.
