Uzodinma, 22 APC Govs To ‘Market’ Andy Uba To Anambra People Ahead Of Governorship Poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has saddled twenty-three governors of the party with the job of ensuring that Andy Uba wins the November 6 Anambra governorship election.

Uba, flagbearer of the APC, would be facing candidates of 18 political parties including that of the state’s ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the poll.

APC’s caretaker chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Mai Mala Buni, inaugurated the party’s governorship campaign council on Tuesday and appointed Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as chairman.

Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, was named as deputy chairman of the council.

The council has less than three months to reconcile aggrieved party members and ensure Uba’s victory at the poll.

Speaking after the council was inaugurated at the APC National Secretariat Abuja, Uzodinma said his team would “go and talk to the people of Anambra State to market our candidate and to make promises and tell them the programmes the party has for them.”

Among members of the council are Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy Speaker Idris Wase; Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Sylva, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator George Akume.

Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will head the finance sub-committee of the council while Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State will head the special intervention sub-committee. Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State will chair the security committee.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hah earlier unveiled a high-powered council to lead the party’s campaigns in the Anambra election.

Senator Uche Ekwunife was named the chairperson of the PDP campaign council, while Senator Stella Oduah will serve as the co-chairperson.

Also included in the team are former governor, Peter Obi, Dr Winston Udeh, who will serve as the Vice-Chairman and Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, who will serve as the Director-General of the campaign organisation.

Others are Hon. Tim Egboka, who will serve as the Deputy Director-General for the campaign, Chief Tony Offiah, will serve as Director of Financial Services, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, as Secretary to the state campaign council, and Hon. George Ozodinobi, who will serve as the secretary to the chairman of the campaign council.

Zonal directors of the campaign are Hon Chris Azubogu (South), Hon Gabriel Onyenwife (North), and Dr A. A. Anagu (Central).
