VIDEO: Tinubu Answers ‘Mr President’ Title Ahead Of 2023

With exactly 563 days until Nigeria’s next presidential election, the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, may have already seen himself occupying the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

The country’s next presidential election will take place on February 18, 2023, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on October 15, 2020.

But with 18 months and 2 weeks left for President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure to come to an end, Tinubu, a two-time former Governor of Lagos State, has started answering the title “Mr President”.

The APC leader was seen in a video in circulation on social media answering the title of “Mr President”.

He had on Friday received the northern caucus of the House of Representatives led by the Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase, in London where he is said to be receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

While he was about leaving the venue of the meeting to his car, a voice in the background of the video said “Mr President, see you soon,” to which Tinubu responded “thank you”. Watch video HERE.

The APC leader has yet to openly declare his intention to run for the presidency in 2023.

In October, 2020, he had denied securing a building for use as his presidential campaign office.

His spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, had said in a statement that Tinubu “has not even declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election let alone opening a campaign office.”

Rahman had noted Tinubu has “repeatedly said 2023 is still some years away and that he is at present focused on helping President Buhari to deliver on his mandate as he is doing and coast home to victory.”
