WAEC Sets August 28 As Closing Date Of Registration For Private Candidates

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has urged private candidates to ensure prompt registration for the 2020 Senior school certificate examination (WASSCE). 

WAEC, in a tweet on Wednesday, stated that registration for the second series of the examination would close on August 28.

“This is to inform intending candidates of WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2020-Second Series that the closing date of registration for the examination has been extended to Friday, August 28, 2020,” it tweeted.

In an earlier statement, seen by THE WHISTLER, WAEC stressed that “the examination will be urban-based.”

Recall that the Federal Ministry of Education had directed that exiting classes of secondary schools were to reopen on August 4 in preparation for the WAEC examination billed to begin on the 17 of August.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by WAEC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Ben Bem Goong, on Monday.

“Secondary schools in the country are to reopen as from the 4th of August, 2020 for exit classes only.

“Students will have two weeks within which to prepare for the West Examinations(WAEC) due to start on the 17th of August, 2020,” it stated.
