The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has explained why he prevented the arrest of Justice Abdullahi Liman of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Recall that Wike, on October 8, prevented attempts by the DSS and the police to arrest Justice Liman for alleged corrupt practices.

Wike, who spoke when a group, Non-Indigenes Without Borders led by Mr. Emeka Onowu, visited him at the Government House, Port Harcourt yesterday, said his prevention was to ensure the rule of law and not to stop the security agencies from doing their job as alleged.

The governor explained that he was not supporting any judge in the country found culpable of corrupt practices, but that it was wrong for security operatives to invade the residence of a judge in the night.

Wike further claimed that the Federal Government was working relentlessly to kill the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,

Addressing the non-indigenes, he said: “We have a sad situation where everything is being done at the federal level to kill the PDP. However, in the end, it is their own political party that will die.

“They are repeatedly shifting the date of the rerun elections, so that they can have a convenient time to rig. Nobody should be scared of their plan to use Department of Sate Services, DSS, and police to rig the rerun elections.

“How many people can a policeman that is carrying gun kill? In Turkey, where they resisted the army, were they not human beings? Nobody will circumvent the mandate of the Rivers people,” he said.
