Adamawa Government Imposes 24 Hour Curfew On Lamurde Over Violence

Following the recent crisis in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, has imposed a 24 hour curfew in some of the communities affected by the violence in the area.

On Thursday May 14th, it was reported that violence had erupted, in Tingno Dutse and Tito, causing tension in its wake.

A statement issued on Sunday night by Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, said “Sequel to breach of peace in Tingno Dutse Tito, Sabon Layi and Bagashi communities, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the imposition of a 24 Hour curfew from 6:00am to 6:00am with  immediate effect”.

According to the statement, residents are requested to abide by the directive of government, until further notice,  so that normalcy could be restored to the area.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri views the disturbances as unacceptable, warning that security agencies have been directed to enforce the curfew, urging residents of Lamurde Local Government to shun rumour mongering and provide relevant information to Security Agencies to ensure a peaceful Adamawa,” the statement reads briefly.

“While guaranteeing the protection  of lives and property of the people, Governor Fintiri advised residents to exercise restraint and remain calm as Government is doing everything possible to track down the perpetrators and restore peace in the affected communities,” it concluded.
