Akeredolu Wins Ondo West, Extends Lead

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Akeredolu has won the election in Ondo West Local Government Area with 15,977 votes, bringing the total votes cast for him to 251,899 with only two local governments left.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede came second in the LG with 10,627 votes, bringing his own total to 179,592.

He is second from the results of 16 LGs that have been released so far.

The returning officer for the local government, Prof Ademola Ibitoye from the Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile Ife said results from eight polling units in five wards were cancelled due to over voting,refusal to use smart card reader for accreditation of voters.

The returning officer also said the marked ballot papers were poured out and set ablaze in Unit 6 Ward 5 of the same local government area.

They have gone on a five minute break and will continue the collation of result after the break.
