APC NWC Suspends Amosun, Okorocha As Governors Face Expulsion

Governors Ibikunle Amosu and Rochas Okorocha of Ogun and Imo states have been suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC NWC, which made the decision at a meeting on Friday in Abuja, also recommended the expulsion of Amosu and Okorocha to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

The development, it was gathered, stemmed from the governors’ running battles with the National Chairman of the ruling party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, after their preferred candidates for governorship election in their respective states lost at the primary elections of the party.

Amosun and Okorocha consequently backed their candidates after they defected from the APC to other parties to pursue their governorship ambitions.

Reports say the APC NWC had long planned to sanction the governors for anti-party activities but delayed it until after the presidential elections that held across the country last Saturday.
