ASUU Backs NLC, Joins Strike Action In Kaduna State

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has joined the ongoing strike action by the Nigerian Labour Congress to protest the alleged anti-labour practices in the state

In a circular issued to the members of the union, the state chairman of ASUU, Peter Adamu noted that ASUU as an affiliate of the Congress, was also part of the NLC National Executive Council that took the decision on the strike action.

“I am directed by the National Secretariat of our great union through the Zonal office Kano, for members to join the warning strike.

“Members should remember that ASUU is an affiliate of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the principal officers of ASUU were part of the NLC National Executive Council that took the decision on the strike action.

“We must unite for a just cause because injury to one is an injury to all,” it stated.

The circular also cautioned that the union will not be there for members who fail to join the strike action when the wrath of the governor falls on them.

Recall, NLC had on Monday insisted that there is no going back on its five-day strike action.

The strike action, which followed the condemnation of the decision of the State Government to layoff thousands of civil servants, by the President of the Congress, Ayuba Wabba, had paralysed major activities in the state as schools, water, banks, hospitals, electricity, rail and air services were shut down.
