Baba Ijesha Told Me He Did Not Rape Minor- Fabiyi

Nollywood Actor, Yomi Fabiyi said he spoke to fellow actor, Olanrewaju James aka Baba Ijesha, to hear his side of the story.

In a video, Fabiyi said he spoke to Baba Ijesha who is currently being held by Lagos Police for allegedly sexually molesting a minor.

“When I heard about the situation, I was unhappy. It was controversial”, he said.

According to Fabiyi, Baba Ijesha said he never slept with her seven years ago.

Fabiyi said when he asked Baba Ijesha what happened and if he actually raped her, he replied “Yomi, I never did. Princess brought a general to harass me. I didn’t sleep with this girl seven years ago.’ At that time, Princess was also in marriage.”

According to Fabiyi, Baba Ijesha said the first time he ever met the minor was “at a garage and touts were harassing me for money. How could I have slept with her?”

The actor said Baba Ijesha is not a paedophile and that he never raped the girl.

“The girl never at any time said Baba Ijesha raped her. The girl said she was not raped. What happened is sexual assault.

“Paedophiles don’t go for adult teenagers, the majority don’t know what it (Paedophile) is. Not to talk of somebody who is an adult”, he said.

He defended Baba Ijesha, saying that he was beaten and coerced into confessing to the crime in his viral confession video.

“You watched a child being molested for 30 minutes, somebody must pay for that. He (Baba Ijesha) said four men beat him to a stupor when they rushed in. He said he could barely hear anything when they were asking him questions; that all he could hear was ‘molest’, ‘molest’.

“He didn’t conceptualise the ‘molest’ in the face of the law. He thought it was the normal way that we play with it. He needed to save his life. Then, he was scared that they could kill him. What if the man died in that process?” he said.

The police have previously announced that Baba Ijesha was in their custody for allegedly sexually abusing a minor, adding that there was CCTV footage of the allegation.

Fabiyi, in turn, staged a protest demanding the release of Baba Ijesha, claiming that his offence is bailable.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, replied to his protest, saying that Baba Ijesha cannot be released until the judiciary (who are currently in strike) workers resume.
