BREAKING: FIFA Bans CAF President For 5 Years, Fines Him 200,000 Swiss Francs

The world apex football governing body, FIFA, has suspended the head of Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad, for five years over corruption allegatios.

Ahmad became CAF President in March 2017, taking over from Issa Hayatou.

FIFA, in a statement, said Ahmad “breached his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, mismanaged funds and abused his position as the CAF president.”

He was also fined 200,000 Swiss Francs for alleged, “organisation and financing of an Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca” and also his role in CAF’s dealings with a sports equipment company.
