FIFA Selects Two Nigerian Female Referees For 2023 Women’s World Cup

World football governing body FIFA has pre-selected two Nigerian female referee to officiate in the 2023 Women’s World Cup that will be co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia.

A total of 156 referees and assistant referees from all over the world were selected by FIFA for the Mondial.

Ndidi Madu was selected as a match referee for the tournament amongst seven others from the continent of Africa which includes Bouchra Karboubi (Morocco), Vincentia Amedome (Togo) and Dorsaf Ganouati (Tunisia), Salima Mukansanga (Rwanda), Lidya Abebe (Ethiopia), Fatou Thioune (Senegal), Maria Rivet (Mauritius).

The second Nigerian picked was Mimisen Iyorhe as a match assistant along with ten others from Africa which include Queency Victoire (Mauritius), Diana Chikotesha (Zambia), Fatiha Jermoumi (Morocco), Mary Njoroge (Kenya), Lidwine Rakotozafinoro (Madagascar), Bernadettar Kwimbira (Malawi), Fanta Kone (Mali), Carine Fomo (Cameroon) and Yara Abdelfattah (Egypt).

The tournament is billed to start from July 10 to August 20 in 2023 and will be played across 12 cities in both countries.
