BREAKING: Ogundipe Withdraws Suit Challenging His Removal As UNILAG Vice-Chancellor

The sacked Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Toyin Ogundipe, has withdrawn a lawsuit he instituted to challenge his sacking by Dr Wale Babalakin-led Governing Council of the institution.

Ogundipe’s counsels,Tayo Oyetibo (SAN) and Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), had approached the court on Friday with an application to discontinue the case.

The notice of.discontinuance read, “Take Notice that the claimant doth hereby wholly discontinue this suit against the 1st-6th defendants.”

Ogundipe.had filed the suit at the National Industrial Court and the suit
marked NICN/LA/278/2020, had the University of Lagos Governing Council as defendant.

Other defendants in the suit were the UNILAG Senate; the Pro- Chancellor and the Chairman Governing Council, Dr Wale Babalakin (SAN)! Registrar, Oladejo Azeez, and the Acting Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Theophilus Soyombo.

The council had appointed Soyombo in acting capacity immediately Ogundipe’s controversial removal was announced but the appointment was greeted with outcries from stakeholders in the university.
