The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Toyin Saraki, the wife of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for questioning over alleged money laundering during her husband’s tenure as the governor of Kwara State.

Mrs Saraki’s invitation is coming just few weeks after her husband’s promise to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his fight against corruption in the country.

You will recall that there has been an alleged rift between president Buhari and senate President Bukola Saraki, the genesis of the rift, traced to the way Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, had spurned the APC’s directive on who to lead the National Assembly and had ridden on the back of an alleged alliance with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members to clinch the leadership posts in both chambers.

Though the presidency had denied any form of rift between the two leaders, it is a known fact that all is not well between the number one and three citizen of the country.

Toyin Saraki was said to be under probe in relation to several contracts executed by companies said to be linked to her while her husband served as Kwara governor, she has been billed to appear before EFCC interrogators on July 28.

Similarly, daughter of former President Umaru Yar’ Adua and wife of former Kebbi State Governor, Zaina Dakingari was invited for questioning over alleged N2billion fraud.

Mrs Dakingari committed the alleged crime while her husbandSaidu Dakingari served as Kebbi governor.

Mrs Dakingari who was expected to honour the anti-graft agency’s invitation yesteday, July 22, pleaded to be spared till July 27 for her questioning as she is away in Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj.

A source at the EFCC, who pleaded anonymity said,
