The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Toyin Saraki, the wife of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for questioning over alleged money laundering during her husband’s tenure as the governor of Kwara State.

Mrs Saraki’s invitation is coming just few weeks after her husband’s promise to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his fight against corruption in the country.

You will recall that there has been an alleged rift between president Buhari and senate President Bukola Saraki, the genesis of the rift, traced to the way Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, had spurned the APC’s directive on who to lead the National Assembly and had ridden on the back of an alleged alliance with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members to clinch the leadership posts in both chambers.
