Buhari Welcomes Release Of 21 Chibok Girls

President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed the release of twenty one Chibok Girls who were kidnapped from their schools by the Boko Haram Terrorists on the 14th of April, 2014.

The president in a statement by his Senior Special Adviser on Media, Malam Garba Shehu, said that their release was an outcome of negotiations.

“The President welcomes the release of the girls but cautioned Nigerians to be mindful of the fact that more than 30,000 fellow citizens were killed via terrorism,” Buhari said.

“Malam Daura wants the girls to have some rest, with all of them very tired coming out of the process before he hands them over to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.”

The release comes as Buhari begins a three-day trip to Germany. He is going to Germany to discuss assistance for the rebuilding of the northeastern part of Nigeria ravaged by Boko Haram.

“The President takes off shortly on a trip to Germany for a state visit. The names of the released girls follow shortly”, Shehu said.
