Building Collapse: Soludo To Pay Medical Bills Of Survivors

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on Tuesday visited the scene of the building collapsed at Oduigbo Ochanja Market to ascertain the level of damage and also empathize with the traders.

The governor who expressed sadness over the unfortunate event which has caused loss of lives, and has left many wounded stressed the need for proper building plan which must be approved by himself and relevant authorities.

He also stated that his government will bear the medical cost of those in the hospital, called for more excavators to rescue those trapped stating that remaining of such improper buildings around the market must be demolished.

Speaking further, he reiterated that his government will ensure that such a thing will not be witnessed again within the state.

Recall that on the evening of Monday the 26th of February 2024, three out of five buildings under construction collapsed in the Oduigbo section of the Ochanja market in Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra State trapping several people under the rubble.

Emergency workers have been working round the clock to rescue those trapped under the rubble.
