Recall that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, had on Thursday ordered restriction of vehicular movement from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day in 26 states holding run-off and bye-elections on Saturday.

“Essential services like INEC officials, accredited media, and emergency responders are exempted. The IGP also bans security aides to VIPs from polling booths and state-owned security outfits from election security management, aiming to prevent interference.

“Emphasizing the commitment to a secure electoral process, the IGP urges responsible conduct and warns of legal consequences for disruptions,” the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had said in a statement.

But on Friday, Hundeyin stated that restriction of movement will be only in Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, adding that there is no restriction of movement in other parts of the state.

He said: “This is to announce to the general public that during the bye-election scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2024, there will be restriction of movement in the election area, Surulere Federal Constituency I only.

“However, Funsho Williams Avenue will be free for passage only. Movement into and out of feeder roads off Funsho Williams Avenue will not be permitted.

“For other parts of Lagos State, there is absolutely no restriction of movement.”
