Court Orders Nigerian Army To Reinstate Dismissed Officer

The Nigerian Army has been ordered by the National Industrial Court to reinstate a senior officer, Abdulfatai Mohammed, for violating the law in the 2016 dismissal of the officer.

The judgement was given on Tuesday by the judge, Rakiya Haastrup, at the headquarters of the industrial court in Abuja.

Mohammed claimed that the authorities arbitrarily forced him to retire.

The case had lingered for nearly four years of efforts to get justice, including repeated appeals to President Muhammadu Buhari for redress.

Haastrup told the counsel to the defendants after her judgement: “Advise your clients to comply.”
