Court Orders Substituted Service On Ganduje, Others In Bribery Case

A Kano State High Court has authorized substituted service on Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and others facing bribery charges.

This order allows alternative methods of serving them with court documents if personal service proves difficult.

The Kano State government filed an eight-count charge against Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, and son Umar Abdullahi, accusing them of misappropriation and diversion of public funds during his time as governor.

Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited are also named in the charges, which allege bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of Naira.

Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu granted the order after an application by the state’s lead prosecutor, Zahradeen Kofar-Mata, representing Ya’u Adamu Esq., the lead prosecution counsel.

Earlier, Nureini Jimoh, SAN, representing the sixth respondent (Lamash Properties Limited), challenged the appearance of Ya’u Adamu and his team, arguing that a specific lawyer was appointed to handle the case and only that person has authorization to appear.
