DSS Arrests Former Aso Rock Aide Posing As Buhari’s Chief Of Staff

One Mohammed Momoh has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly posing as President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff to defraud a man of about N19 million ($50,000).

Momoh was said to have impersonated Professor Ibrahim Gambari and promised to get his victim a job as President Buhari’s special adviser on oil and gas.

DSS paraded the 42-year-old father of two at its headquarters on Tuesday in Abuja.

The spokesperson of the state service, Peter Afunanya, said Kogi born Momoh attempted to defraud Benson Aniogu from Bayelsa State.

The suspect, according to Afunanya, had worked briefly as an aide to someone in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa between 2013 and 2014, and was knowledgeable about workings of the presidency.

The DSS spokesman further urged members of the public to, “be wary and ask questions when and where they need to. For every suspicion of crime please relate to appropriate security agencies and pass information timely to them so they needful can be done.”
