Former governor of Benue State Gabriel Suswam was on Sunday released by the Department of State Services (DSS), after 71 days in custody.
Suswam was released based on self-recognition, but agreed to honour the DSS invitation whenever he is needed, a source close to the former governor confirmed.
The ex-governor was arrested on February 25 on allegations of illegal possession of firearms and corruption.
The DSS reportedly recovered cars and firearms in a building in Abuja, both of which are said to belong to him.

The former governor is standing trial at a Federal High Court Abuja, over alleged diversion of N3.1 billion raised from Benue State shares in major companies.
A group, Benue Concerned Citizens had last week called on the DSS to immediately release Suswam or charge him to court.
