Emir Sanusi Calls For Conversion Of Northern Mosques To Schools

Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has called for the conversion of mosques in Northern Nigerian states to mosques.

This, Sanusi said, would encourage northern youths to embrace education and increase literacy level, while enabling state governors save more money.

The monarch and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria further noted that the practice is not uncommon as mosques in far Morocco have been seen using classrooms for university lectures.

“When you convert these mosques to institutions of learning in your domain, you simply bring education to the door steps of citizens at less cost,” said Sanusi.
