EndSARS Protesters Shutdown Osogbo

Angry youths protesting against police brutality and extortion have returned to the streets of Osogbo, the Osun State capital with a renewed vigour.

The angry youths barricaded the major roads, making bonfires on the ever busy roads and chanting anti- police songs.

The potesters converged on Nelson Mandela Freedom Park around 10:30am and marched to the popular Olaiya Junction with placards, banners, and tyres to block the roads.

They barricaded Alekuwodo, Ogo-Oluwa, Odi-Olowo, and Orisunbare roads with tyres, woods, and iron rods forcing motorists to make a detour.

The protest caused gridlock and commuters were stranded while many resorted to trekking to their various destinations.

Some of the inscriptions on the banners they carry read, “End police brutality, EndSARS, Improve the standard of policing in Nigeria, Nigerians are not cows.”

There have been renewed protest against police brutality and despite the dissolution of the police unit, angry youths continued to protest.

They are calling for psychiatric evaluation of police personnel to end mindless killings, brutality and extortion of youths by the police.
