EPL Clubs Warned Against Possible Terror Attacks

English Premier League’s governing body has written to all 20 clubs urging them to be on high alert over potential terror attacks.

The body reportedly warned the clubs to be ‘extra vigilant’.

This is coming after the Berlin Christmas market terror attack that left 12 people dead and 56 injured.

“Following the tragic events in Berlin, the Premier League shared with clubs relevant up-to-date information and guidance provided by statutory authorities,” a Premier League spokesman said.

“Premier League clubs take safety and security very seriously and have a range of policies and provisions in place.

“They routinely work closely with the police, and with their local safety advisory group.”

Manchester United recently ramped up their security, adding bomb searches of cars when coming in and out of Old Trafford.

In May, Manchester United’s match against Bournemouth was postponed after a bomb threat – although it emerged later that this was down to security administration errors.

Security was boosted throughout English football after the November 2015 Paris attacks, which claimed the lives of 129 people across the French capital including three suicide bombers outside the Stade de France.

However, there has not been a single terror attack at a ground in the UK.

There are a host of FA Cup fixtures this weekend in the UK, with many lower league teams travelling to the Premier League sides.
