Fayose Denies Taking N1.3bn From Dasuki As EFCC Asks For Refund

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has denied receiving N1.3 billion from the N4.7 billion allegedly shared by former defence minister, Musiliu Obanikoro, in the run up to the 2015 general elections.

Obanikoro was alleged to have received the N4.7 billion from the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, who is currently being held in custody of the Department of State Security Services (DSS) over the $2.1 billion arms money he allegedly mismanaged.

The EFCC is said have asked Fayose to refund the money he allegedly took from Obanikoro in 2014, but that the former has denied receiving any money from the ex-defence minister.

“We have treated Fayose with respect since he arrived in our office. We asked him about the money he received from Obanikoro and when he would return it but he is denying everything,” Punch quoted a source in the Commission as saying.

“He said in his statement on oath that he never received any money despite the overwhelming evidence. The man is refusing to cooperate despite the overwhelming evidence we have,” the source told the newspaper.
