FG Declares July 30, 31 Public Holidays For Sallah Celebrations

 
Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31st have been declared as public holidays by the federal government to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The statement also conveyed the felicitation of the Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, to all Muslim faithfuls as well as Nigerian citizens at home and abroad on the occasion.

It reads “He called on the Muslims to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, peace, kindness and sacrifice, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and the stability of the country especially as the world is witnessing global health challenges caused by Covid-19 pandemic.”

Aregbesola, according to the statement, also called for cooperation from all Nigerians, as President Muhammadu Buhari battles the scourge of the COVID-19.

He reiterated the federal government’s determination to foster peaceful coexistence, national cohesion and stability, in order for the nation to actualise its maximum potentials.

The minister also sought the support of Nigerians “in its avowed determination to build a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous country, where the rights of every citizen, are protected and guaranteed, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He finally urged citizens to take responsibility against the deadly COVID-19, by observing guidelines by medical and other relevant authorities.
