Gov Uzodinma Marks 7 Months In Office With Multiple Road Commissioning

The Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, marked his seven months in office with multiple commissioning of road projects across the state. Recall that Senator Uzodinma assumed the governorship of the state on 14th January, 2020, following the Supreme Court’s verdict that declared him the governor of the state.

THE WHISTLER gathered that the governor, in commemoration of his seven months in office, commissioned Douglas road, Oparanozie/Edede/Amaigbo street roads, Thomas More, JP Ajaelu and Gozie Nwachukwu road, Assumpta-Owerri/Port-Harcourt road/Ibari Ogwa measuring 4.5km dual carriage way; Archdeacon Dennis road at Aladinma, and Lake Nwaebere-Aladinma ring roads.

During the commissioning, Senator Uzodinma said, “My administration is committed towards giving Imo people good and quality roads across the state. This administration is determined to reposition and redefine the state of Imo roads for ease of doing businesses and other economic benefits accruing therein.”

However, the youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State, Greg Nwadike, said the whole exercise was a hoax. Speaking with our correspondent in Owerri, Monday, Nwadike said, “When you see a people desperate to make statements when unnecessary, you know that something is being covered somewhere. For example, the Port-Harcourt road, which we understand, was part of the roads he commissioned, was started by Hon Emeka Ihedioha from Assumpta Cathedral. It was on the verge of completion, opposite the Cathedral, remaining like 300 metres. When His Excellency Hope Uzodinma came in; we expected that the road would have continued the way it ought to be, but he quickly completed that particular spot that Ihedioha was on, and then abandoned the entire stretch of the road. Then we heard that he was commissioning. Is he commissioning a completed road? This is desperation. Generally, nothing has been achieved to the level of commissioning. Some of the areas you mentioned, what relevance do they have in Imo State? We are talking about major roads. Uzodinma went and patched an estate at Aladinma and called it commissioning. What benefit does Aladinma road have in Imo State? What are the economic benefits of a road in an estate? Douglas road was done by Rochas Okorocha and re-started by Emeka Ihedioha. For me, the entire commissioning is a fraud.”
