Governor El-Rufai Has Balkanized Kaduna State Into Tribes, Sects – Isa Ashiru

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru has taken a swipe at Governor Nasir El-Rufai over the way he runs the state.

Ashiru, a former member of the House of Representatives, said security situation in the state had worsen since El-Rufai took over the mantle of leadership in the state, stressing that a once united people were now “balkanized” into tribes and religion due to the incompetence of the All Progressive Congress administration of El-Rufai.

He said: “Governance is not about the governor, its about the people. There is need for the government to carry everybody along for the successful delivery of governance. What he has succeeded in doing is destroying the structures that will support governance in the state,

“All the structures that could ensure peaceful co-existence in Kaduna State have been destroyed. The traditional institution is no longer relevant in the state. The Governor has succeeded in bastardising the system. Nobody is at peace in Kaduna; there is no section of people that the Governor has not dealt with for reasons only known to him.”

Speaking on why he is in the race for the governorship of the state, Ashiru said Kaduna has been unlucky to have a Governor “who does only his own bidding” and doesn’t care about what people say or how they feel.

He said he was in the race to change the narrative of the state as a killing field to that of a peaceful and prosperous state, and to re-unite the people.

“People are killed day by day as if there is no government. The essence of government is to protect lives and property of the people. If you cannot deliver this, you’re not supposed to be in power. People are no longer sleeping,

“Yes, when he came in people were sleeping with one eye closed. But now it’s a nightmare. The situation has deteriorated, and with God on our side, we will send Nasir parking next year,” he boasts.

He said the people of the state were tired of the APC government in the state and would elect PDP in 2019.
