Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Woman In Onitsha

A hit-and-run driver, Wednesday, killed a female adult at Okpoko junction, Onitsha. THE WHISTLER gathered that the incident occurred around 8am.

According to RC Pascal Anigbo, the public education officer of the Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, “The victim was rushed to Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, where she was confirmed dead. The corpse was deposited at the morgue in the same hospital.”

There was another accident at Ihiala, Wednesday, which involved a Toyota Hiace with enlistment number CAL15XJ, and an Actros tanker with registration number FGG176YU. It occurred near KM Filling Station, along Ihiala-Onitsha expressway, at about 8.20am.

Our correspondent gathered that 15 persons, six male adults and nine female adults, were involved. Ten of them – four males and six females – sustained various degrees of injuries.

Anigbo said the injured victims were rushed to our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, by the FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Unit Command, adding that the sector commander of the FRSC, Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, had warned pedestrians to always make use of various pedestrian bridges on expressways. He also cautioned drivers against over-speeding.
