THE WHISTLER gathered that the new case is a 39-year-old man, who used to live and work in Lagos, and had travelled back to Enugu on the 22nd of April, 2020.

According to Enugu State Health Commissioner, Prof Emmanuel Obi, the man reported to a mission hospital in the state, upon manifesting some suspected symptoms.

He said, “Staff of the hospital alerted the state COVID-19 response team days later and samples were taken on the 29th of April which have turned out to be positive on 1st May 2020. This new case is not a contact of the third case.”

Prof Obi enjoined security agencies, stakeholders and the residents of the state to maintain vigilance at the all points of entries into Enugu State because the last two cases in the state were not primary contacts of confirmed cases.
