JUST IN: EFCC Re-Arraigns Emefiele

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has re-arraigned a former Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, on 20 count charges bordering on alleged corrupt practices and forgery.

Emefiele was re-arraigned on Friday before Justice Hamza Muazu at the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja.

The embattled ex-CBN governor was sighted dressed in an ash coloured pair of trousers and a dark jacket when he arrived at the court premises.

He was also said to be accompanied by his team of lawyers and a few aides.

However, prior to this, Emefiele was first arraigned by EFCC on six counts of N1.2bn procurement allegations.

He was re-arraigned today on the amended 20 counts and he pleaded not guilty to the charges read to him. The trial judge adjourned the case till 12th, 13th February 2024, for the commencement of trial.
