KADUNA: Police Arrest ‘Bandit’ With AK-47 After Gun Duel

The Kaduna State police command has arrested a suspected bandit, Bello Abubakar, with an AK-47 rifle. 

The state’s police spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige, disclosed that Abubakar was arrested during a routine patrol on Friday.

Jalige said the suspect was apprehended in a green Volkswagen vehicle (Golf) with Reg.No.KAG 142 AA along the Kudaru forest in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of the state. 

Operatives of the police had noticed suspicious looks of the vehicle’s occupants and asked that they stop. Rather, they parked a distance away and escaped into the forest. 

The officers subsequently engaged them in a shootout and succeeded in arresting Abubakar. They searched the vehicle and found an AK47 rifle concealed in the car. 

Abubakar is currently undergoing interrogation and is giving useful information to the police, the command said.

Jalige revealed that efforts were ongoing to ensure that the fleeing members of the gang were apprehended.
