Kyari, Wunti, Bag Fellowship Award

The Chemical Society of Nigeria has conferred its Honourary and Professional Fellowship on the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroluem Corporation Mele Kyari, as well as the Group General Manager, National Petroleum Investment Management Service, Bala Wunti

The CSN conferred the award in recognition of their efforts in the Nigeria energy space, as it commemorated its 43rd annual conference in abuja.

The GMD in an interview session expressed gratitude for the award and promised to do more in developing the oil and gas sector.

The Chief Operating Officer,Ventures, Yemi Adetunji, representing the GMD, said that the award was in recognition of NNPC strides to fulfilling its mandate of providing energy to Nigerians.

He said, “We will ensure that we continue to do our best to move the oil and gas industry forward and to fulfil our mission and vision.

“We will continue to work and ensure efficient delivery of projects, under the auspices of the GMD.”

In his comments, Wunti explained that the importance of hydrocarbon chemistry cannot be overemphasized as it provides the pedestal for which all the oil and gas resource are converted.

“As a practitioner representing NNPC as a trustee in resource custodian, all I try to do is to ensure that the hydrocarbon resource is used to meet the social and economic objective of the nation.

“So instead of importing these resources, we try to convert them within the country, convert them into chemical and fertilizers and take them into the manufacturing industry,” he added.

Wunti, speaking further said that more effort will be geared towards natural gas which Nigeria has in abundance.

He added, “The cheapest way to develop hydrogen is ammonia, from natural gas, and God has given this to us in abundance. Oil is just there as an addition but gas we are a natural gas country.

“This award is for every chemist, and recognition to the NNPC family for us to know that we are being watched and valued.

“I am humbled to know that I am being recognised as a symbol of success in the chemistry space. As we know chemistry today is used as a building block for all economic development around the world.”
