Lagos To Distribute 3 Million Face Masks To Vulnerable Residents

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has revealed plans by the state to distribute about three million face masks to vulnerable residents.

Sanwo-Olu said the state had embarked on local production of the face masks to complement its efforts to curb the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.

The governor stated these during the daily briefing on COVID-19 in the state on Saturday.

“This is not the time for us to relax or slow down in breaking the chain of Covid-19 infections,” said Sanwo-Olu.

The governor said the state decided to distribute the face masks to the vulnerable as it would now be a compulsory item to wear in public going forward.

“We are currently producing millions of face masks for Lagosians.

“We are currently doing about two to three million masks and we want to get it to our most vulnerable people. All the masks are locally made,” he said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said as part of the ongoing fight against COVID-19 in the state, his administration had gone,” door to door to over a million households for testing.”

He added that the state government had also identified an isolation centre in Alimosho and would soon make it active for cases around that area could be quarantined there.
