The United Nations Children Funds (UNICEF) has affirmed its partnership with the Borno State Government to vaccinate 400,000 children with the second dose of measles vaccine.
The agency disclosed this in a tweet on Wednesday, stating its support for measles vaccination in the northern state.
This website had reported the development of the second dose of measles routine immunization in the country on Tuesday.
Making the announcement, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) said the development now makes it possible for all children at 15 months to be vaccinated, unlike the previous routine which is only administered at nine months.
UNICEF further stated in its tweet that the vaccines are free and will bridge the gaps created in health services by COVID-19 and conflict.
UNICEF also lauded Gavi- the Vaccine Alliance, helping to vaccinate half the world’s children against deadly and debilitating diseases.
