Ned Nwoko Can’t Be Senator, Supreme Court Says

In what can be described as an end of the road for billionaire senator, Ned Nwoko, the Supreme Court today, Tuesday affirmed the election of Peter Nwaoboshi as the senator representing Delta North Senatorial District.

The apex court with a five-member panel dismissed the petition filed by Mr. Nwoko.

Nwoko who is challenging the primary election that produced Mr. Nwaoboshi, noted that he won the primaries but the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP cheated him when it was time to submit nomination to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

According to the court, Nwoko filed the petition against his party’s decision late which is why it was dismissed.

Recall that Nwoko had approached the apex court challenging the earlier ruling of the court of appeal which declared Nwoboshi as the winner of the election.

The appeal court’s ruling was against the ruling of the high court which declared Ned Nwoko as the duly elected senator representing the senatorial district.
