Nigerians Raise Alarm Over Increased Arrest Of Buhari’s Critics

Nigerians on Twitter have expressed fear that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is stifling free speech in a supposedly democratic government.

The fear is in reaction to the number of Nigerians critical of the poor state of governance that have so far been arrested and hauled into detention by agents of the regime.

The latest to be arrested in a Gestapo-style is Musa Azare, a blogger who has been critical of how the Bauchi state government mismanaged over N9billion bailout funds from the federal government to pay state workers that are owed months of salary arrears.

The Bauchi governor, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar is of the same party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) with President Buhari.

Azare was whisked away by security operatives in an unmarked car in the Wuse Zone 6 area of Abuja on Saturday evening.

Also, the Ogun State police command on Friday, rearrested Mr. Joe Chinakwe, the trader who named his dog Buhari, and have already charged him to court.
