Niger’s New COVID-19 Cases Are Returnees From Kano

Niger State has confirmed two new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the state to eight.

Commissioner for Health, Muhammad Makusidi, who disclosed this while giving update and situational report on the virus in the state, said one of the new cases is the husband to the only woman at the isolation centre in Suleja and a returnee from Kano.

Makusidi stated that the second new case was also a man already at the quarantine centre from Zumba, who had also returned from Kano.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sani Bello, said the health commissioner, however, revealed that the Limawa index case was now negative and awaiting second negative test confirmation before been declared cured.

According to the statement, the commissioner also disclosed that all the Almajiris, including their Mallams, had been confirmed negative and ready for discharge accordingly.

Meanwhile, two returnees have been received in the hospital’s holding area. One from Lagos and the other from Ibadan; both with relevant symptoms but clinically stable.
