Nike Unveils New ‘Swoosh’ Kit For Super Eagles, Falcons

Sportswear manufacturer Nike has unveiled the 2020 Super Eagles and Super Falcons ‘Naija Kit’ with an eye-catching design for the World Cup 2022 and the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Nike unveiled the ‘swoosh’ outfit Wednesday alongside that of the United States, South Korea national teams, with the remaining countries set to be launched in the coming months.

Previous Nike Eagles design had a record-breaking 3 million pre-orders sales for the jersey before its release for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where the national outfit crashed out in the group stage of the competition.

Nike said in a statement on their website that: “The extensive array of federations donning the Swoosh each have unique histories and cultures.

“In 2020, their distinctive attributes are celebrated with highly differentiated collections.

“Building upon the learnings from the successful 2018 Nigeria Collection, Nike undertook deep cultural immersions and collaborated with each federation to ensure the designs truly resonated.

“From hand-drawn prints to custom fonts, each team’s look will be its own,” the statement continued. “Counter to templatization, Nike designers had 65 chassis options available to them across varying necklines, sleeves, cuffs, badge placement, etc.”

The manufacturers also revealed that the kits are a part of a line of collection of the super Eagles outfit, adding that fans have several options to select from ranging from: vest, dress and poncho with the Nigerian touch.

Reacting, Eddy Dove, a sports analyst and sports journalist of African football said in a tweet- @EddyDove that: “Nigeria fans, @NGSuperEagles players, you are going to LOVE @Nike’s new ‘Swoosh’ kits#Naija ?? #Team9jaStrong ?? #SoarSuperEagles.”
