Ogun, Oyo Assemblies Pass Amotekun Bills

The Ogun and Oyo states Houses of Assembly on Tuesday passed separate bills for a law to establish Amotekun Corps in the individual states.

The Majority Leader of the Ogun House, Yusuf Sherif, at a plenary on Tuesday, had presented the report of the committee on security and strategy which recommended that the bill should be passed.

The bill had been approved by the Conference of Speakers of South West Legislature.

Sherif moved the motion for the third reading of the bill which was seconded by Sola Adams.

The clerk of the house, Deji Adeyemo, read the bill for the third time while the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, ordered that a copy of the bill be forwarded to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his assent.

Meanwhile at the Oyo House, the Amotekun bill was read for the third time before its final adoption and passage on Tuesday.
