Also, a fire fighting truck is stationed at the office while fire fighters standby immediately after the perimeter fence of the electoral commission’s office to prevent fire outbreak.

The security personnel are also helping to control traffic in the area and prevent motorists from parking opposite the INEC office while they also assist in controlling the traffic there to avoid congestion.

A policeman among those deployed there told our correspondent in a chat that the security agents at the INEC office would be there permanently until the election is over and results announced.

Recall that fire gutted the INEC office a month to the election and destroyed over 5000 smart card readers which were to be used for tomorrow’s poll.

Some of the candidates alleged sabotage and said it was a plan to make INEC shift the poll date but the electoral body has said smart card readers would be mopped from other states and they would be used for the poll.

Following this incident, some residents called on the INEC to beef up security at the place in order to prevent a reoccurence of such fire incident.
